Daito Kento Co., Ltd., headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo, has conducted one of the largest surveys on residential satisfaction to date. They unveiled the "2026 Saga Prefecture Living Satisfaction Rankings" and the "2026 Saga Prefecture Most Desired City Rankings" based on this extensive survey.
Initially scheduled for a press conference on August 5 in the Kyushu and Okinawa region, the event was postponed due to the occurrence of a significant earthquake in Kumamoto Prefecture. However, on August 19, coinciding with the national version announcement, the rankings for the Kyushu and Okinawa regions were published on their website. It is essential to note that these rankings are based on data collected between February 10 and March 22, 2026, and thus do not reflect any impact from the Kumamoto earthquake.
Key Points of the Living Satisfaction Rankings

Top Ranking City: For the sixth consecutive year, Tosu City topped the list.

Located in the eastern part of Saga Prefecture, near the Fukuoka Prefecture border, Tosu City is known for its easy commuting options to the Fukuoka metropolitan area. Miyaki Town in Miyaki District, adjacent to Tosu City and Kurume City, ranked fourth this year, up from seventh last year. Known for its rich natural surroundings, notably the Chikugo River, the town has demonstrated its growth as a desirable place to live.
Highlights of the Most Desired City Rankings

Top Desired City: Fukuoka City has been selected as the most desired city for six consecutive years.

Consistent Preferences: Saga City and the Tokyo 23 wards maintained their positions in second and third place respectively for three years running.

New Entrants: Itoshima City and Nagasaki City broke into the top five this year, marking their debut in this elite group, having previously not made the rankings.
Additionally, a notable 76.6% of respondents expressed a favorable opinion about their current city, indicating that many are satisfied with their living conditions. Of those surveyed, 56.6% stated they have no particular desire to move, while only 20% expressed a wish to continue living in their current locale.
Review of the Rankings and Methodology
The survey methodology involved distributing and collecting questionnaire responses over the internet from a registered panel of Macromill Inc. Participants included 4,528 residents over 20 years old from Saga Prefecture, with a fairly balanced demographic in terms of gender and marital status. The survey period spanned five years, combining responses to maintain a consistent dataset.
In the rankings, cities are evaluated based on the average satisfaction score assigned by residents, utilizing a scoring system ranging from complete satisfaction to complete dissatisfaction.
