China's Largest Electrochemical Energy Storage Project Achieves Milestone

China's Largest Electrochemical Energy Storage Project

On June 11, 2025, a major milestone was reached in China's renewable energy journey with the completion of the installation of all storage cabins at the country's largest electrochemical energy storage project. This ambitious initiative boasts a capacity of 600 MW and 2,400 MWh and is equipped with a 1,725 kW Power Conversion System (PCS) from SINEXCEL.

Located on the first site dedicated to this project, the facility comprises 240 battery containers and 60 PCS skids. Once fully operational, it has the capacity to integrate approximately 840 GWh of renewable energy into the grid annually. The project's significant scale means that a single charge can store up to 2.4 GWh of energy. This amount is sufficient to meet the daily electricity needs of around 480,000 households or power 36,000 electric vehicles for a distance of 500 km.

This groundbreaking facility is part of China's first ultra-high voltage (UHV) transmission project that harmoniously combines wind, solar, thermal energy, and storage technologies. Along with this major project, SINEXCEL has also successfully connected another energy storage project of 220 MW and 880 MWh to the grid in Ningxia. Leveraging Ningxia's abundant solar resources, this project integrates solar energy with storage capabilities to resolve curtailment issues associated with renewable energy generation, thereby enhancing grid stability and energy transfer.

The collaboration of SINEXCEL in these pivotal projects underscores its role in fostering a more resilient and sustainable energy future. The company has made significant strides by contributing its 1,725 kW PCS, designed specifically to enhance grid stability. This PCS features a modular architecture ranging from 215 kW to 1.72 MW per unit, blending the benefits of centralized and cascade configurations. It supports various battery types and allows for flexible deployment across diverse storage scenarios, including large-scale commercial applications, microgrids, and upstream applications.

With a peak efficiency of up to 98.5%, the PCS is equipped with advanced multi-string technology, which enhances battery protection while accommodating flexible configurations of one to eight battery strings. Its combined AC/DC output facilitates simplified control and expansion, while NEMA 3R-rated cabinets ensure durability in outdoor environments. Furthermore, with a rapid response time of just 10 ms, the system can balance the grid in real-time, complying with major standards across North America, Europe, Australia, Japan, and China.

SINEXCEL's global presence spans over 40 countries with more than 5,000 deployments worldwide, having established more than 12 GW of storage capacity. The company provides solutions across utility-scale, commercial, and microgrid applications, emphasizing its commitment to addressing emerging energy challenges and enhancing the quality of power.

Founded in 2007, SINEXCEL stands as a pioneer in energy storage, electric vehicle charging, and energy quality solutions. With a significant installed capacity of 12 GW, approximately 140,000 electric vehicle chargers, and nearly 20 million active harmonic filters deployed, SINEXCEL collaborates with industry leaders like EVE Energy and Schneider Electric to further promote energy freedom. This successful engagement in flagship projects highlights SINEXCEL's technical strength and its ongoing commitment to enabling a greener and more sustainable energy landscape.
