As part of the excitement leading up to the FIFA World Cup 2026™, Space Center Houston has unveiled an extraordinary and limited-time experience named Galaxy’s Game. Running through July 31, 2026, this innovative event blends the thrilling world of soccer with the awe-inspiring realm of space exploration.

Guests who visit Galaxy’s Game will embark on a cosmic experience that explores the intersecting paths of athleticism and space innovation. This unique endeavor is designed to engage sports fans, as well as space enthusiasts of all ages. Attendees are encouraged to delve into the notion that excellence in sports reflects humanity’s innate desire for discovery beyond our planet.
With a range of captivating artifacts, high-energy visuals, interactive activities, and compelling narratives, visitors will uncover shared virtues that connect both athletes and astronauts, such as resilience, teamwork, ambition, and the determination to push beyond limitations.
Uniting Space and Sports
Keesha Bullock, Chief Operating and Strategy Officer at Space Center Houston, expresses excitement over this innovative fusion, stating, “We are excited to be able to unite the worlds of space and sports. This experience presents a unique opportunity to inspire curiosity about space and science while tapping into the passion people feel for soccer.” Bullock hopes that the initiative will spark interest and inspire youth regarding STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) disciplines, illustrating how these fields can help them achieve great ambitions, whether in the soccer arena or beyond.
Engaging Activities for All Ages
Guests will have the chance to explore over 400 remarkable and rare space artifacts on display in the museum, alongside engaging in hands-on, space-themed athletic challenges. These activities include:
- - Lunar Surface Arena: Participants assume the role of astronauts, launching balls across a lunar landscape, vying for bonus points in an arena set against the backdrop of the Moon's surface.
- - Lunar Obstacle Run: Players select their country's team, racing against others while collecting bonus points and navigating various obstacles in a thrilling run across the Moon.
- - ISS Fan Tracker: Visitors can monitor their performance with a dynamic digital display that tracks player statistics throughout a symbolic journey to the Moon.
One of the salience features is the display of a signed soccer ball from astronaut Ellison Onizuka, recovered from the Space Shuttle Challenger. This poignant artifact serves as a lasting reminder of the vital connection between sports and space.
Extending the Celebration Beyond the Space Center
The celebrations extend beyond the walls of Space Center Houston, reaching into eastern downtown from June 11 to July 19. This expansion, accessible to the public during each FIFA World Cup match day, invites attendees to partake in the FIFA Fan Festival™ Houston. Here, fans can enjoy live broadcasts of matches on giant screens, alongside diverse performances and activities designed to celebrate the spirit of football.
In collaboration with NASA Johnson Space Center, a unique exhibition featuring both organizations will enhance the festival experience. Additionally, a stunning projection dome, Esphera, inspired by the FIFA World Cup 2026™ match ball, will present a 360-degree experience that seamlessly combines storytelling, innovation, and technology.
