Education Partnership Announced to Address IT Talent Shortage in Japan

Good Works and Saitama IT & WEB School Form Strategic Educational Partnership

In a significant step towards bolstering IT education in Japan, Good Works Inc., a leading IT solutions provider located in Chiyoda, Tokyo, has entered into a collaborative agreement with the Saitama IT & WEB School, operated by the Tokyo Zikei Gakuen educational institution in Saitama City. This partnership aims to develop IT talent and enhance vocational training, in response to the projected shortfall of approximately 790,000 IT professionals by 2030, as indicated by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI).

Background of the Educational Partnership

The accelerating digital transformation globally necessitates the urgent development of next-generation IT professionals in Japan. To address this need, programming education has been integrated into the national curriculum for elementary and middle schools since 2020, and the common mandatory subject “Information I” was introduced in high schools in 2022. Good Works has played a pivotal role by offering IT engineer training to corporate clients and extending educational programs to schools to develop individuals equipped with essential IT literacy.

Saitama IT & WEB School emphasizes practical learning and aims to connect the dots between educational experiences at different levels, from elementary to high school, through vocational training. The school's vision aligns with nurturing students' ability to solve problems and engage in exploratory learning, ultimately contributing to society. Through this partnership, Good Works will collaborate with the school to foster professional attitudes, continuous learning interest, and practical skills necessary for employment in the IT industry.

Objectives of the Collaboration

The partnership includes several key initiatives:

1. Joint classes and practical training sessions through industry-academia collaboration.
2. Development of course syllabi and necessary educational materials.
3. Evaluation of student achievements during classes.
4. Participation of corporate representatives in educational curriculum committees.
5. Training for educators in relation to practical knowledge in specialized fields.

These initiatives aim to directly link vocational education with employment opportunities in the IT sector, thereby supporting the development of sought-after skills in the future IT landscape.
