The National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) is hosting its annual convention from August 12 to 16, 2026, in Atlanta, Georgia. This year’s theme, "Our Revolution: Truth, Power, and Black Journalism," promises an engaging week combining professional growth with opportunities to celebrate the rich legacy of Black journalists.

Among the standout events is the Newsmaker Plenary on August 13, entitled The New Power Structure: Black Politics in the Age of Resistance. This session will bring together key figures in journalism, law, and civil rights, including influential Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries and renowned legal scholar Kimberlé Crenshaw. The discussions aim to address the crucial political issues that shape today’s societal landscape.

As the week progresses, attendees will enjoy noteworthy films and discussions. On August 15, NABJ presents an Exclusive First Look at Paramount Pictures' upcoming film Children of Blood and Bone, followed by a panel session with acclaimed director Gina Prince-Bythewood. The film explores a magical kingdom where the protagonist embarks on a quest to restore magic to her people, offering a rich narrative that resonates with themes of resilience and identity.

In addition, the weekend is packed with engaging activities such as the NABJ 5K Run/Walk on August 14—a wellness-focused event promoting fitness and community spirit. Everyone from families to fitness enthusiasts can participate in this inclusive gathering, with proceeds supporting NABJ's Journalism Student Projects (JSHOP).

The Salute to Excellence Awards Gala will also take place on August 15, honoring exemplary journalism that informs and inspires communities. This prestigious event culminates in a celebration of the contributions made by journalists, acknowledging the hard work and dedication that goes into their craft.
