START Box Exhibition Vol.4: A Showcase of Rising Talent
The START Box, managed by the Tokyo Arts Council, is set to host its fourth exhibition, providing young artists with a vital opportunity to showcase their creativity. This year's
START Box Exhibition Vol.4 will take place from
August 23 to 31, 2025, at the
Tokyo Innovation Base, located in Marunouchi, Chiyoda. During this time, visitors can explore an array of artworks created by nine talented artists, offering a glimpse into the future of art in Tokyo.
The initiative aims to support young artists who struggle to find studio space, thereby promoting continuity in their artistic endeavors. The exhibition will not only display artworks but also include various events such as gallery tours, discussions with artists, and engaging talks that foster interaction between creators and the audience.

The
gallery hours are from
10 AM to 9 PM on weekdays and
10 AM to 5 PM on weekends and holidays. Admission is free, and no reservation is necessary. However, attendees will need to register on the official app for entry.
Special Events at the Exhibition
In addition to the main exhibition, there will be several special events. The
YAU SALON, a free dialogue event, will take place on
August 27, 2025, from
6:30 PM to 8:30 PM. This event aims to deepen exchanges between individuals engaged in arts and cultural activities and organizations operating domestically and internationally. Featured speakers include artist Yoshitaka Nanjo and Yuuko Tsuruoka, the leader of the PR group at Terada Warehouse Co., moderated by Atsushi Fukai from YAU.
On
August 31, 2025, artists will engage in discussions about their work in a
two-part artist talk session at
2 PM and 3:30 PM respectively, with special guest Michiko Matsumoto, director of the Pola Museum Annex.
About START Box
The
START Box initiative is designed to provide creative spaces for young artists who find it challenging to secure studios. Launched in April 2023, the program has renovated vacant commercial spaces in public housing, starting with
Sasahata and Hatagaya in Shibuya, and will be opening another location in Odaiba by November 2023, known as
START Box Odaiba.
