Paralyzed Veterans of America Launches Annual Donation Drive with NASCAR Legend Richard Petty
The Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA), a leading non-profit dedicated to serving disabled veterans, has officially launched its annual in-store donation drive in partnership with Food City and supported by seven-time NASCAR champion, Richard Petty. This year's campaign runs from July 2 to July 29, 2025, inviting shoppers to contribute $1, $3, or $5 at checkout to support PVA's mission.
Since its inception in 2011, the partnership with Food City has raised over $4 million, significantly impacting the lives of countless veterans. These funds directly aid in providing the benefits that veterans earned through their service, ensuring they have access to essential health care, meaningful career opportunities, and other vital resources.
U.S. Army veteran and PVA National President Robert Thomas expressed his gratitude stating, "This campaign represents how local communities can significantly impact the lives of our heroes. Together, we can make a lasting difference honoring their sacrifices and helping them regain their independence."
During the donation drive, customers at Food City supermarkets have the chance to add their chosen donation amount to their grocery bills at checkout. Additionally, Food City will implement a charity round-up feature that allows customers to round up their total for even greater contributions.
Richard Petty, a long-time supporter of PVA, highlighted the importance of giving back to those who have served, stating, "There's no better way to celebrate the holiday than by supporting those who have given so much for our country."
Food City's president and CEO, Steven C. Smith, is proud of the company’s continued alliance with PVA, thanking customers and staff for their ongoing support, which makes this campaign a success year after year. "With every contribution, we strengthen our community and support PVA in their vital work," Smith commented.
Paralyzed Veterans of America is uniquely positioned as a congressionally chartered organization that solely focuses on the welfare of veterans with spinal cord injuries or diseases. The organization diligently monitors the care provided by Veterans Affairs spinal cord injury units and also funds research aimed at improving care and finding cures for paralyzed individuals.
PVA is not only committed to advocacy for veterans but also focuses on increasing accessibility in public spaces, providing training, vocational services, and promoting health and rehabilitative opportunities through sports and recreation. With more than 70 offices and 33 chapters nationwide, they serve veterans, families, and caregivers across all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico.
