Goodwill-Easter Seals Minnesota (GESMN) is excited to announce the appointment of Marc Majors as its new Chief Services and Programs Officer. This significant move aims to strengthen the organization's commitment to supporting individuals with disabilities and enhancing their participation in the workforce.
A Leader in Workforce Development
Marc Majors comes to GESMN with a wealth of experience, having dedicated over two decades to workforce development and nonprofit leadership. Most recently, he served as the Deputy Commissioner of Workforce Development at the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED). During his tenure there, Majors played a crucial role in securing over $130 million in combined state and federal investments aimed at improving workforce initiatives. He also spearheaded innovative strategies to engage the community more actively in grant review processes, ensuring that diverse perspectives were included in funding decisions.
Dr. Michael Wirth-Davis, President and CEO of GESMN, expressed confidence in Majors’ abilities, stating, “Marc's deep expertise in workforce development, public policy, and systems leadership will be a tremendous asset to the organization. His commitment to expanding opportunity and removing barriers aligns perfectly with our mission.” Majors is set to provide strategic direction, enhance key partnerships, and advance GESMN’s advocacy efforts for public policy that fosters inclusivity.
A Strong Vision for Change
In his new role, Majors is focused on expanding workforce support for people with disabilities, helping them gain access to meaningful employment opportunities. “I’m pleased to join Goodwill-Easter Seals Minnesota and contribute to an organization with a strong history of creating career opportunities in our community,” Majors stated. With the workforce landscape constantly evolving due to technological advancements and shifting societal needs, he sees potential for developing new pathways to ensure individuals are well-prepared for future job markets.
Majors’ background is impressive; he has held important workforce leadership positions with various esteemed organizations, including the San Francisco Office of Economic and Workforce Development and the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation. His expertise uniquely positions him to drive GESMN's mission forward.
A Commitment to Community and Sustainability
Goodwill-Easter Seals Minnesota has a long-standing commitment to fostering community connections and sustainability. Founded in 1919, the organization has been at the forefront of service provision, helping over 5,000 individuals annually through job training, employment services, and family stability programs. A significant initiative of the organization includes diverting nearly 60 million pounds of material from landfills each year through reuse and recycling programs.
The introduction of Marc Majors as Chief Services and Programs Officer is positioned as a catalyst for enhancing GESMN's ability to fulfill its mission.
