Overview of the Chief Security Advisor Role

Job Description
The Chief Security Advisor will operate under the guidance of the CISO, providing strategic advice and support in promoting and managing cybersecurity measures across the ministry's operations. Key responsibilities include:

- - Assisting in the development and improvement of the MIC's cybersecurity regulations and compliance manuals.
- - Contributing to the planning and evaluation of annual cybersecurity initiatives.
- - Facilitating the design and implementation of training programs for MIC personnel on cybersecurity protocols.
- - Offering guidance on procurement specifications related to cybersecurity for externally commissioned information system designs.
- - Supporting the organization in responding to cybersecurity incidents, particularly advanced and diverse cyberattack methods.
- - Conducting audits on information systems and advising on technical aspects of cybersecurity in major projects.
- - Participating in regular meetings with the cybersecurity team to ensure ongoing alignment with national security strategies.
Candidate Requirements
To be eligible for consideration, candidates must meet the following criteria:
1. A minimum of five years of experience in roles related to cybersecurity within organizations comparable to MIC, including handling information security incidents and adhering to regulations.
2. Proven capabilities as evidenced by significant achievements in information security, supported by relevant qualifications such as:
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
- Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)
- Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) certifications
Applicants who do not possess Japanese nationality, are ineligible by the National Public Service Act, or have been convicted of serious crimes are excluded from this recruitment process.
Working Conditions
- - Location: Central Government Building No. 2, 2-chome, Kasumigaseki, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, Japan.
- - Work Schedule: Flexible arrangements not exceeding three days a week, with a daily maximum of 7 hours and 45 minutes.
- - Contract Period: From April 1, 2026, to March 31, 2027, with the possibility of renewal based on performance.
- - Compensation: Starting at approximately JPY 42,060 per day, subject to qualifications and experience.
- - Benefits: Commuting allowances and potential social insurance coverage.
