West Virginia's COMET Initiative Revolutionizes Foster Care Communication and Support

Enhancing Foster Care: The Launch of COMET

In a move set to revolutionize the foster care system in West Virginia, the Department of Human Services (DoHS) has joined forces with Cardinality.ai to introduce the Communication & Operations Mobile Engagement Tool, often referred to as COMET. This innovative platform aims to streamline communication between foster parents, caseworkers, attorneys, and service providers, ensuring that crucial information is accessible when it is most needed.

The Need for a Centralized Communication Tool

Historically, foster care has faced significant challenges related to communication breakdowns and delays in information sharing. This often resulted in inconsistent support for children and families who are already navigating complex emotional landscapes. Recognizing these shortcomings, the West Virginia DoHS initiated the COMET project with the goal of establishing a secure and centralized system that facilitates effective collaboration across the foster care system.

COMET provides a user-friendly interface that allows authorized participants to exchange information efficiently and track updates in real-time. Whether it's a foster parent needing to communicate with a caseworker or an attorney requiring access to recent case developments, COMET is designed to be a one-stop solution for all information-related needs within the foster care ecosystem.
