Huawei ICT Competition 2024-2025 Conclusion



On May 25, 2025, Shenzhen, China, hosted the grand closing awards ceremony for the Huawei ICT Competition 2024-2025. This year marked the ninth edition of the competition, which achieved a record scale by attracting over 210,000 students and educators from more than 2,000 colleges and universities across over 100 countries and regions. After rigorous national and regional rounds, 179 teams from 48 countries advanced to the global finals.

During the event, intense competition unfolded across three main areas: Practice, Innovation, and Programming. Ultimately, 18 exceptional teams from China, Algeria, Brazil, the Philippines, Morocco, Nigeria, Serbia, Tanzania, and Singapore claimed top honors.

The main prize for the innovation challenge was awarded to teams from Bulacan State University in the Philippines, Beijing University of Technology in China, Faculty of Technical Sciences at the University of Kragujevac in Serbia, and Faculty of Sciences and Technology at the University of Errachidia – Moulay Ismail in Morocco.

For the practical challenge – networking track, winning teams included the Information Technology Institute in Shenzhen, China, Federal Institute of Tocantins in Brazil, Federal University of Technology Minna in Nigeria, and a collaborative team from the Dar es Salaam Institute of Technology and the University of Dodoma in Tanzania.

In the cloud computing track of the practical challenge, notable winners comprised teams from iAcademy in the Philippines, University of Batna 2 and Higher National School of Computer Science in Algeria, Tianjin University of Technology and Education in China, and Singapore University of Social Sciences.

The competition also recognized significant achievements beyond technical excellence with special awards. The 'Women in Technology' award was given to four all-female teams from Brazil, Saudi Arabia, Germany, and Kenya, while the 'Green Development' award was claimed by a team from Ghana. Additionally, the award for the most contributive educator recognized 18 notable educators from ten countries – China, Algeria, Bangladesh, Brazil, Egypt, Indonesia, Iraq, Nigeria, Hungary, and Turkey – for their role in advancing ICT education.

In his keynote address, Ritchie Peng, Director of ICT Strategy and Business Development at Huawei, emphasized that the competition's themes are continuously evolving to inspire innovation through education. He noted, “Our practical contest aligns with our vision of an Intelligent World by 2030, encouraging students to master cloud computing, big data, and AI for societal advancement.” The competition on innovation emphasizes green development and digital inclusion, driven by participants seeking solutions to real-world challenges in sectors such as agriculture, healthcare, and education through ICT.

As digital transformation accelerates globally, the demand for skilled professionals in areas such as AI, big data, and cybersecurity is on the rise. However, a noticeable talent shortage persists in these critical fields. To address this issue, the Huawei ICT Competition offers multiple avenues, including practicality, innovation, and programming, along with initiatives that bridge industry and academia and develop tailored curricula. This effort aims to equip students with essential skills and nurture a new generation of technological talent capable of thriving in an increasingly intelligent and digital world.

During this year’s competition, Huawei also hosted a summit focused on accelerating educational transformation through AI, where experts discussed the significant role of AI in intelligent education. Furthermore, Huawei officially introduced the AI feature of the Huawei ICT Academy platform, enhancing its usability for educators and students, marking another advancement in the digitalization of education.
