The Exciting Journey Ahead: 26th All Japan Para Powerlifting International Invitational Championship

The Japan Para Powerlifting Federation (JPPF) announced on August 25 that the 26th All Japan Para Powerlifting International Invitational Championships will be held. However, there has been an important venue change that fans should note.

The new venue for this prestigious event is the Tokyo International Exchange Center Plaza Heisei, located at 2-2-1 Aomi, Koto City, Tokyo.

This competition promises to deliver thrilling moments and heartfelt stories, as athletes take on their limits in the world of para powerlifting. Everyone is invited to witness this spectacle—come and experience the excitement of "three-second dramas" that involve tension, explosive effort, and joy!

Participating Nations Confirmed

So far, three countries—Mongolia, South Korea, and Taiwan—have confirmed their participation, with 1-2 additional countries still in the process of being finalized. Notably, a Paralympic medalist from Mongolia is also expected to compete, adding to the competition’s excitement.

Exciting Collaborations

In an effort to foster unity across the para sports community, the event will feature a new collaboration project named P.UNITED, involving eight sports organizations working together. This initiative highlights the power of cooperation and collaboration in sports.

Pre-Event Activities to Generate Buzz

To promote the championships and engage fans, three preliminary experience events are scheduled, providing a chance for attendees to get involved and build excitement:

  • - All Participation Collaboration Challenge: In this event, every participant contributes to lifting a cumulative weight that represents the collective effort of everyone involved. It doesn't matter if you're a seasoned weightlifter or trying it for the first time; every contribution counts!

The schedule for these experience events includes:
  • - November 16: Para Powerlifting Experience at the Tokyo Parathletes Training Center.
  • - November 22-24: Sports Festa 2025 at Komazawa Olympic Park.
  • - December 6: Experience event during the Edogawa City Disability Week at Ario Kasai.

Championship Overview

The championship is set for January 17-18, 2026, and is co-hosted by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government.

Key Highlights of the Championship

  • - Aiming for the 2026 Nagoya Asian Para Games: This championship will serve as a crucial event for athletes who missed out on the Paralympic pathway, with results contributing to the Asian Para Rankings.
  • - International Competition: As an international invitational championship, it is expected to attract approximately five participating countries, similar to last year when teams from Taiwan, Laos, South Korea, and Cambodia joined the event.
  • - Collaboration with Nihon Kogakuin College: This long-standing partnership entering its eighth year will involve students from six different colleges, including music, design, video, IT, and sports medicine, who will manage various aspects of the championship. This inclusivity reflects the collective talents they bring to the event.

Mark your calendars for this unforgettable competition, where collaboration and excitement will be at the forefront, challenging athletes' limits and inspiring countless fans!
