In a significant step toward strengthening local energy expertise, Shanghai Electric has successfully concluded an intensive eight-day training program designed for twenty employees involved with the Thar Coalfield Block I Energy Integration Project in Pakistan. This initiative, focused on enhancing skills and knowledge, took place in major cities like Shanghai and Beijing in China, showcasing the company’s commitment to nurturing talent in the energy sector.
The employees, who hold various managerial and technical positions within the project, engaged in a series of hands-on activities aimed at deepening their understanding of cutting-edge energy solutions and industrial advancements. The training included informative seminars about Shanghai Electric's organizational culture, as well as comprehensive tours of their state-of-the-art facilities, such as the Shanghai Boiler Works production site and the company’s headquarters. Participants were able to observe the innovative approaches that Shanghai Electric employs in its operations, gaining insights that will be invaluable in their respective roles.
Zia ul Qama, the Manager of Commercial Operations at the Thar Project, expressed enthusiasm about the training experience. He commented on how observing China’s rich culture and learning about Shanghai Electric’s strategic vision has invigorated his drive to achieve both personal and company goals.
The Thar Coalfield Block I Energy Integration Project, which began operations in February 2023, plays a crucial role in addressing Pakistan's escalating energy needs. With an impressive annual power generation capacity of approximately 9 billion kilowatt-hours, the project is pivotal in supplying electricity to around four million households, marking a significant leap towards energy independence for the nation.
Beyond just contributing to energy supply, this project exemplifies Shanghai Electric’s dedication to sustainable industrial progress.
