From May 1st to 5th, the 137th Canton Fair, also known as the China Import and Export Fair, witnessed a remarkable celebration of flavors under the banner of “A Better Life.” This event captivated attendees with its vibrant food sector, offering a sensory journey into China’s rich culinary landscape. With a plethora of pantry staples including rice, oils, sauces, and tea, the fair’s food area buzzed with enticing aromas, vivid colors, and lively conversations, drawing in buyers from every corner of the globe eager to explore a treasure trove of tastes.

Among the standout exhibitors was Guangdong Sweet Sixteen Foods Co., Ltd, long-known for enchanting buyers with its innovative take on traditional sweets. The company showcased its signature gum series, featuring a sweet-sour outer layer that dissolves into pure sweetness. Yang Rong, a representative of the company, stated, “Plain sweetness can be dull; we added an exciting flavor contrast!” With products ranging from lollipops to cotton candy, this brand has successfully expanded to over 20 countries, including the USA, UK, and Canada, and is currently working to enhance its presence in South America, Africa, and the Middle East.

Another notable participant, Guangdong Ruima Qi Food Co., Ltd, attracted buyers with its lively assortment of candies. Specializing in explosive candies, bracelet and necklace candies, and liquid candies, this manufacturer is famous for producing high-quality explosive candies that remain stable in high temperatures. According to a company representative, they prioritize attractive packaging design alongside flavor profiles to meet the rising demand for visually appealing sweets, targeting markets in Europe, South America, and the Middle East.

The fair didn't only feature colorful sweets; it also highlighted traditional snacks such as throat lozenges made from preserved citrus peels and Buddha's hand fruit, exemplifying the Chinese philosophy of food as medicine. Also present were spicy strips, known as latiao, which are popular snacks in China, renowned for their bold flavors and vibrant social media presence.

The Canton Fair continues to mesmerize global buyers with its ever-evolving flavors, showcasing everything from classic sweets and uniquely crafted candies to healthy treats and irresistible Chinese snacks. As international curiosity about Chinese snack options grows, especially those gaining traction on social media platforms, the fair has established itself as a must-visit for flavor enthusiasts.
