Are you a middle or high school student eager to make a difference? The
Take Action Camp Japan is the perfect opportunity for you to dive into pressing global issues and develop your problem-solving skills.
An Overview of the Camp
From
August 17 to 20, 2025,
the Take Action Camp will take place at the National Central Youth Exchange House in
Gotemba, Shizuoka. This four-day program is designed to help participants identify and address social issues. Since its inception in 2000, the camp has nurtured over 1,200 future leaders through engaging activities focused on real-world challenges.
The Mission
Organized by the certified NPO
Free The Children Japan, the camp encourages students from 5th grade in elementary school to high school seniors to engage deeply with social problems like poverty, environmental issues, wars, gender discrimination, and the SDGs. The camp emphasizes not just learning about these issues but also takes action to create solutions.
Why Attend?
- - Discover Your Voice: If you're interested in social issues but unsure how to get involved, this camp is for you. Create lasting friendships with like-minded peers who share your passion for making a difference.
- - Hands-On Experience: Participate in workshops and team-building activities while learning leadership skills in a supportive environment facilitated by trained university students. This method ensures a participatory approach to learning, where every voice matters.
Program Highlights
Participants will engage in lectures and group discussions that cover local and global challenges. Each activity reinforces the idea of collaboration and active participation, empowering students to become active change-makers in their communities.
Meet Inspirational Speakers
One of the camp's highlights will be a session with
Michel Chikwanine, a former child soldier and motivational speaker. He will share his experiences of growing up in the Democratic Republic of the Congo amidst war and how he transitioned to becoming an advocate for peace.
