Adness Corporation and Tohoku University Begin Joint Research on Work Styles and Health Impact

Adness Corporation Collaborates with Tohoku University on Research

In a significant initiative set to explore the impacts of varied work styles on individual health and overall life quality, Adness Corporation, a global leader in generative AI innovation headquartered in Shinjuku, Tokyo, has partnered with Tohoku University's Graduate School of Medicine. This collaboration, beginning in September 2025, will leverage nationwide survey data to scrutinize how evolving career perspectives and skills attainment affect both personal well-being and societal outcomes.

Background and Scope of the Research

The rapid advancements in digital technologies and shifts in the job market have led to increasingly diversified career paths, including side jobs, online learning, certification acquisition, and the integration of generative AI. Despite this evolution in work styles, scientific research on their economic outcomes and impacts on mental and physical health remains insufficient.

To address this gap, the joint research project spearheaded by Adness and Tohoku University aims to analyze the ramifications of career views and skills such as social networking and AI proficiency on individuals’ health and lifestyles using epidemiological and statistical methods. The project will utilize data from JACSIS/JASTIS, a nationwide internet survey that has been conducted annually since 2020, encompassing nearly 30,000 participants across Japan aged between 18 and 79.

Running from September 1, 2025, to August 31, 2026, the study will assess the correlation between various factors—including age, educational background, occupation, and life stages—through both cross-sectional and longitudinal research approaches. The insights gained from this endeavor will inform corporate policy designs, educational service developments, and public policy proposals.

Future Prospects

The study's findings are expected to contribute significantly to the design of HR policies in companies, the development of educational services, and personal career support, as well as underpinning policy recommendations. Adness aims to integrate the knowledge gained from this research into its services, particularly focusing on reskilling support and talent development, thereby creating new value in these spheres.

Comments from Leadership

"Through this joint research, we aspire to scientifically elucidate how the diversification of career perspectives and skill acquisition influences individuals’ lives, health, and society at large. Having provided educational services that support lifelong learning and skill development, we look forward to leveraging the outcomes of this research to enhance our reskilling support initiatives across society."

Takahiro Tabuchi, Associate Professor at Tohoku University's Graduate School of Medicine

"We are thrilled to engage in this collaborative research with the dynamic team at Adness. The influence of social networks like X, Facebook, and YouTube has proliferated, yet the effects that these platforms exert on individuals have yet to be adequately evaluated. Our research will encompass the impacts of social media, AI, and the new working paradigms, aiming to devise actionable social implementation plans based on empirical data and evidence for acquiring new skills and work methodologies."
