Okayama University's Second DX Promotion Workshop
On August 13, 2025, Okayama University, located in Okayama City, Japan, held its second workshop aimed at enhancing digital transformation (DX) initiatives. This event specifically focused on the use of Microsoft 365 (MS365) for application development and attracted 83 participants, including university staff, who attended both in-person and online.
The workshop began with an opening address by Masanobu Abe, the Director responsible for DX and GX. Following his introduction, a presentation was delivered by Rihito Yaegashi, the Director of the DX Promotion Research Center at Kagawa University. He shared insights on Kagawa University’s efforts in promoting DX, which served to broaden the participants' understanding of digital transformation necessary for their own institutions.
During the presentation, Norifumi Suehiro, the head of the Information Systems Department at Kagawa University, highlighted specific DX case studies that illustrated how MS365 can facilitate operational improvements in educational environments. This information provided concrete examples for participants on the practical applications of the tools they were learning about.
In the latter half of the workshop, attendees engaged in a hands-on session where they developed applications using MS365 under the guidance of Kagawa University staff. This interactive segment allowed participants to experience system development first-hand, fostering a deeper comprehension of how they could incorporate MS365 into their workflows.
Okayama University plans to continue hosting workshops aimed at improving staff DX literacy as part of its commitment to advancing digital transformation across the university. This initiative aligns with the institution's mission of being a cornerstone and distinctive research university, contributing to both local and global communities.
