In a remarkable collaboration aimed at enriching the lives of local youth, Genesis Motor America, the U.S. Soccer Foundation, and the Major League Soccer Players Association (MLSPA) have unveiled two new mini-pitches at Barack Obama Charter School in Compton, California. This project signifies the third installation following previous mini-pitch setups in Hollywood, Florida, and Staten Island, New York, showcasing the dedication of all involved parties to improving access to soccer and physical activity for children in underprivileged areas.

During the opening celebration, children and coaches participated in a ceremonial first kick, which was followed by a scrimmage on the new mini-pitches. The atmosphere was lively, as families enjoyed local food vendors, and participants received commemorative jerseys to honor the event, establishing a sense of community pride.

Brandon Ramirez, the Director of Corporate Social Responsibility at Genesis, highlighted the company's commitment to assisting the youth and strengthening community ties. He stated, "By bringing these mini-pitches to Southern California, we're helping create a safe space where children can stay active, dream big, and build a brighter future together."

Ed Foster-Simeon, president and CEO of the U.S. Soccer Foundation, expressed enthusiasm for the new venture, declaring, "We have deep roots in the Los Angeles community, and we're excited to build on that foundation. These spaces will not only increase access to the game, but also create more opportunities for young people to connect with peers and mentors, stay active, and engage with their community."

The newly launched Musco Mini-Pitch System is designed for soccer practices and pick-up games, serving as a community hub that encourages physical activity among youth. As part of the U.S. Soccer Foundation's Safe Places to Play initiative, the program aims to establish 1,000 mini-pitches nationwide by 2026. Currently, over 800 mini-pitches have been installed, primarily located in densely populated areas with limited opportunities for children, positively impacting approximately 10,000 youths per site.

Clarence Goodson, player relations manager for MLSPA, voiced his support for the initiative, emphasizing the importance of providing safe playing spaces for youth in Los Angeles, which is also home to two MLS teams. He stated that players throughout the league are dedicated to ensuring young people have access to environments where they can play, learn, and grow.

Additionally, Genesis's corporate social responsibility effort, Genesis Gives, actively collaborates with organizations dedicated to enhancing access to sports for youth.
