Family Day: A Weekend for Kids at MOMAT
The Tokyo National Museum of Modern Art (MOMAT) is set to host
Family Day from November 15 to 23, 2025. This event, dedicated solely to children, invites families to experience art in a friendly and welcoming environment. Parents often hesitate to enjoy cultural outings due to concerns about their children's behavior in such settings; however, at
Family Day, children are encouraged to laugh, cry, and express themselves freely, making it a perfect outing for families.
During this unique four-day event, the museum will enhance facilities for families, including breastfeeding rooms, diaper changing areas, and relaxation zones to ensure a comfortable visit. The museum aims to eliminate the barriers that often prevent families with children from exploring art. In addition, free materials to aid in enjoying the artworks will be provided, and dialogues about art will be facilitated through interactive activities. Due to the immense popularity of this event, reservations will again be required to help manage the expected attendance. Last year's event sold out quickly, leading to disappointment for many who wished to attend. This year, the number of days has been increased from two to four to accommodate more families eager to partake in the festivities.
