GEDU Global Education Partners with UNITAR for a Sustainable Future

In a pivotal moment for global education, GEDU Global Education, a UK-based multinational, has signed a significant agreement with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR). This partnership was formalized during the XXII CIFAL Annual Meeting held in London from December 9-11, 2025, marking a strategic commitment to bolster educational initiatives aligned with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

This collaboration allows GEDU to utilize one of its 32 international training centers around the world to provide capacity-building programs that support the 17 SDGs, which were adopted by the United Nations in 2015. With over 70 delegates from more than 30 countries in attendance, this meeting highlighted the significant strides made by CIFAL centers, which offer specialized professional training for civil servants and representatives from civil society.

During the meeting, delegates reviewed the performance of the CIFAL network, which has trained over 161,000 individuals this year. They also adopted a comprehensive capacity-building strategy to accelerate the achievement of the SDGs over the next five years. As part of this initiative, GEDU unveiled its inaugural sustainability report. The report was presented in collaboration with Kanishka Narayan, the UK Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Online Security, at an event hosted in Parliament by Baroness Verma.

Vishwajeet Rana, CEO of GEDU, called the agreement a historic milestone. He stated, "This partnership enables us to continue our sustainability efforts in tandem with the United Nations, UNITAR, and all CIFAL centers around the globe." The discussions in London focused on identifying collaborative platforms for the upcoming year while setting specific goals to enhance the UN’s development program through 2030.

This agreement also emphasizes GEDU’s significant contributions not only in London but across its institutions located in 16 countries including the USA, UK, France, Germany, and Australia. Rana expressed confidence that GEDU's global network can foster a broader perspective and create a more substantial impact worldwide. He mentioned, "Our institutions span across continents from Toronto and Tampa in America to cities in Europe, the Middle East, India, and Brisbane in the Asia-Pacific region, allowing us to offer a global perspective."

Alex Mejia, director of the Human and Social Development Division at UNITAR, highlighted the strategic importance of this agreement in enhancing the capacities necessary to achieve the UN’s SDGs. He noted that numerous CIFAL centers are situated within universities, emphasizing the crucial role of higher education in achieving these goals, and reaffirmed the commitment to continue partnerships with like-minded institutions.

Looking forward, Mejia stated, "The management of the CIFAL London center by a prestigious organization like GEDU will greatly accelerate our efforts to reach 200,000 beneficiaries next year. The truly global scale of GEDU’s activities fills me with confidence about what we can achieve together in the near future."
