Karsan's e-ATAK Autonomous System Approved for Paris Traffic Routes

Karsan's e-ATAK Autonomous System Tested Successfully in Paris

In a significant leap for autonomous public transportation, Karsan, a leader in next-generation mobility solutions, has recently completed an extensive six-month testing phase of its autonomous e-ATAK model in Paris, France. This project was executed in collaboration with RATP Group, one of the foremost public transport operators in the city.

During the testing period, the e-ATAK vehicle traversed approximately 3,000 kilometers in real urban settings, handling various challenges that included open traffic and pedestrian interactions. With an average of five hours of active operation each day, the vehicle demonstrated impressive performance while navigating the busiest routes in the Parisian landscape.

The e-ATAK underwent rigorous validation at UTAC's test track, a leading facility for vehicle certification in France. After meeting stringent guidelines, the vehicle received national approval from the DGEC, the agency responsible for regulating autonomous mobility under the Ministry of Transport in France. This critical endorsement allows the e-ATAK to operate autonomously in open traffic conditions throughout the country.

Okan Baş, CEO of Karsan, expressed pride in the vehicle's performance, noting, "Our vehicle showcased its operational capabilities by successfully navigating complex traffic scenarios, executing precise parking maneuvers at stops, and interacting in real time with traffic signals and intersections. During the six-month trial, our vehicle achieved an impressive 98% success rate in autonomous driving without driver intervention, underscoring the high reliability and operational maturity of our autonomous solution."

This project stands out as a pioneering effort in Europe, having navigated through the most crucial and heavily trafficked Route 393 in Paris, a testament to Karsan’s commitment to advancing sustainable mobility. The company aims to remain at the forefront of public transport transformation, embracing new technology to redefine urban transportation dynamics.

Collaborating with ADASTEC, Karsan developed the e-ATAK to incorporate cutting-edge autonomous driving technology, allowing it to seamlessly integrate into existing public transport systems while elevating passenger safety and convenience.

As part of Karsan's vision of being one step ahead in the future of mobility, the e-ATAK represents a major milestone towards realizing smart cities where transportation is more efficient, safe, and dynamic. This successful trial not only highlights the potential of autonomous vehicles in urban settings but also reinforces the growing trend of technological innovation in public transportation across Europe.

With the official operational approval now granted, Karsan is poised to set new standards in the public transport sector and inspire further advancements in autonomous mobility solutions on a global scale. As transportation agencies around the world begin to adapt to new technologies, Karsan's e-ATAK could serve as a promising example of how autonomous systems can enhance urban mobility while addressing sustainability challenges.
