Aspen Snowmass Unveils Ambitious $80 Million Summer 2025 Upgrades
Aspen Snowmass Unveils Summer 2025 Investment Projects Worth Nearly $80 Million
Aspen Snowmass, a component of Aspen One, is gearing up to initiate significant on-mountain improvements as part of a major overhaul worth close to $80 million. Slated to commence this month, these projects aim to enhance the guest experience at one of North America's premier skiing destinations. Among the highlights are the introduction of two new high-speed chairlifts and a complete reconstruction of the much-loved Ullrhof restaurant, which is set to double its capacity and become the first all-electric dining facility on the mountain.
Elevating Guest Experiences with New Chairlifts
Geoff Buchheister, CEO of Aspen Skiing Company, expressed enthusiasm about the ambitious summer ahead, emphasizing the focus on delivering an exceptional experience. The existing Elk Camp quad chairlift will be replaced with a state-of-the-art, high-speed 6-pack lift, designed to significantly reduce wait times while efficiently transporting biking enthusiasts to the Snowmass Bike Park over the summer months. Notably, this development will almost double the bike haul capacity, underlining Aspen Snowmass's commitment to both winter and summer activities.
Furthermore, an additional T-Bar lift will replace the older platter lift, aimed at minimizing wait times for guests accessing some of the most thrilling high-alpine terrains.
This unprecedented addition of two new lifts in the same season, marked as the first in nearly twenty years, is complemented by prior investments in enhancements at Snowmass and other mountains within the Aspen Snowmass range, such as the Cabin and Coney Express upgrades.
Dining Redefined at Ullrhof
In a move towards improving dining experiences, the iconic Ullrhof restaurant will undergo a complete rebuild to reopen for the winter season of 2026-27. The current building, which has served guests for over 56 years, will be replaced with a modern design that accentuates the natural environment surrounding it. The new Ullrhof will not only have more than 500 seats, but also boast an expanded bar and lounge area along with a fresh menu aimed to delight guests.
This innovative redesign symbolizes Aspen Snowmass's dedication to sustainable practices, being the first all-electric restaurant on the mountain. Other planned dining upgrades include enhancements to the Elk Camp restaurant, pending town approval.
Advancements in Snowmaking and Forest Health
Beyond human amenities, Aspen Snowmass is also investing in its snowmaking technologies. Planned upgrades aim to boost snow coverage across the different mountains, ensuring high-quality conditions for skiing regardless of weather variability. The advancements include automated systems that enhance energy efficiency and an expansion of coverage in both mid and upper mountain areas.
To promote forest health and safety, critical projects focused on wildlife habitat improvements and wildfire risk reduction are set to span across all four mountains. These initiatives reflect a broader commitment to maintaining healthy ecosystems while offering a superior skiing experience through terrain enhancements.
A Collaborative Approach to Sustainable Development
Aspen Skiing Company is collaborating closely with White River National Forest in the planning and execution of these developments, emphasizing their commitment to environmental stewardship and community engagement. Each project aligns with the company's long-term strategy to provide exceptional experiences while prioritizing sustainability and ecological health.
Monte Lutterman, a supervisor with the Mountain Resorts Recreation Special Uses, noted that these investments will substantially benefit visitors for decades, reinforcing the vital relationship between the company and the natural environment.
With these expansive plans for 2025, Aspen Snowmass reaffirms its status as a top destination for winter sports and summer adventures alike, ensuring a legacy of world-class experiences for generations to come.
