This summer, Tokyo is setting the stage for an artistic adventure with the return of the
Summer Night Museums event! Every Friday night from
August 6th to August 28th, six prominent cultural venues in the city will open their doors for a unique evening filled with art, culture, and special activities.
Those who have been seeking a vibrant way to unwind after a long week will find this initiative a perfect blend of relaxation and inspiration. The Tokyo Metropolitan Government aims to provide an accessible and enjoyable environment for everyone, including younger audiences and working professionals, encouraging them to immerse themselves in the world of art during the summer nights.

Explore Current Exhibitions
Here’s what you can expect to see at the different museums this summer:
- Regular Exhibition running on Fridays until 9 PM (August 7, 14, 21, 28).
- Special Exhibition titled “Dreams of Western Buildings and the Peach War” running until 9 PM on August 7, 14, and 21.
- Collection Exhibition “Idemitsu Museum Collection” on August 28 until 9 PM.
- - Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum:
- Commemorative Exhibition for its 100th anniversary titled “Landscapes of this Place - Ueno, Omuta, Buenos Aires” open until 8 PM on Fridays through August.
- Special Exhibition “Edo Paintings Across the Seas: The British Museum’s Collection of Japanese Art” also open until 8 PM each Friday.
- The serene Japanese Garden will be accessible until 6 PM.
- Exhibition “Lucy Lee: Elegant Vessels Connecting East and West” will be available until 9 PM.

- Exhibition “Works by Mako Idemitsu: A Female Filmmaker's Autobiography” and “TOP Collection: Tomorrow’s Dining Table” both running until 9 PM on selected Thursdays and Fridays.

- Collection exhibition titled “MOT Collection” running until 9 PM on selected Fridays.
