About the Event

Hideko Hanada's Background

Born on October 30, 2001, in Wakayama Prefecture, Hanada hails from a family of martial artists. With a father who is a national wrestling champion and a mother who coaches judo, it's no surprise that he excelled in sports from a young age. He began practicing sumo in the second grade and later attended Nippon Sport Science University, where he became a member of the sumo club. At just 19 years old, he won the All-Japan Sumo Championship and was awarded the title of amateur yokozuna. Shortly after, he shifted gears to pursue American football and transferred to Colorado State University, competing at the NCAA Division I level.

Achievements

Hanada has an impressive list of accomplishments, including:

• - 2018: Winner of the World Junior Sumo Championship (Open Weight Class)
• - 2019: Winner of the World Junior Sumo Championship (Open Weight Class)
