This event coincided with the first day of the 66th session of the WIPO Assemblies, bringing together more than 1000 delegates from member states and organizations with observer status. The exhibition was organized collaboratively by the National Copyright Administration of China (NCAC), the Permanent Mission of China to the United Nations Office in Geneva, and WIPO, with hosting support from the China Intercontinental Communication Center.

The opening day included vibrant cultural performances and a showcase of traditional Chinese cuisine, emphasizing the rich heritage that underpins China's innovative spirit.

Exhibition Highlights

The exhibition is meticulously structured into four thematic sections:
1. International Cooperation
2. Legal Framework
3. Copyright Protection
4. Industry Development

Through a dynamic blend of multimedia presentations, physical exhibits, interactive experiences, case studies, and live performances, attendees were provided with a comprehensive overview of China's copyright system's evolution and its increasing role in global intellectual property governance. The exhibition effectively communicated how copyright is crucial not only for promoting innovation but also for fostering economic and social progress.

WIPO's Director-General, Daren Tang, attended the opening ceremony and praised China's long-standing contributions to innovation, from ancient inventions to contemporary digital creative industries. He highlighted the robust copyright sector in China, which is propelling economic growth, job creation, and nurturing a dynamic cultural ecosystem. Additionally, Tang noted the growing global appeal of Chinese games, films, and art collectibles, underscoring the importance of copyright in supporting creative economies.

A senior official from the NCAC also spoke at the event, emphasizing China's strong support for the copyright sector's development. The official pointed out that copyright has increasingly become a significant component of China's national development strategy. Over recent years, the country has bolstered its copyright legislation and governance, improved enforcement mechanisms, and witnessed rapid growth in its copyright industries. Public awareness surrounding copyright has significantly increased, and the climate for innovation and creativity in China has never been as vibrant as it is now.

Efforts in fostering international cooperation were highlighted, with China aiming to broaden dialogue and partnerships with WIPO and countries worldwide. This is furthered through initiatives such as the Belt and Road initiative, which promotes collaboration on copyright issues.

These endeavors strive to construct a balanced and effective global copyright system that benefits citizens across the globe, demonstrating China's commitment to innovation aligned with global standards.

The exhibition not only serves as a platform for showcasing China's achievements in copyright but also illustrates the integral role rights play in advancing creative industries on a global scale. The fusion of culture, legal frameworks, and innovative practices sets a precedent for future collaborative efforts in the realm of intellectual property.

As the world continues to navigate the complexities of intellectual property, exhibitions like this are vital in fostering understanding and cooperation among nations, paving the way for a future where innovation thrives within a well-structured framework of rights protection.
