The Opening of the 16th China-Russia Culture Fair Sub-Venue in Jiamusi

The 16th China-Russia Culture Fair: A Gateway to Cultural Exchange

On July 10, 2026, the sub-venue of the 16th China-Russia Culture Fair officially opened in Jiamusi, located in Northeast China's Heilongjiang Province. This significant event is co-hosted by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China, the People's Government of Heilongjiang Province, the Ministry of Culture of Russia, and the Government of Russia's Amur Oblast. The fair follows a unique format dubbed "two countries, four provinces and regions, six cities," which aims to foster deeper cultural understanding between China and Russia.

The main venue is situated in Heihe, Heilongjiang, while Jiamusi and nearby Mudanjiang serve as sub-venues. Jiamusi, strategically bordering Russia's Khabarovsk, has effectively utilized its geographical position to enhance cultural and tourism collaborations between the two nations.

At the Jiamusi sub-venue, a total of 19 diverse events are planned, showcasing a rich blend of both cultures. Highlights include a gala performance celebrating the theme of China-Russia friendship. Talented artists from both nations entertained audiences with choreographed shows that intertwined the intangible cultural heritage of the Hezhe ethnic group, traditional Russian songs, and dances, culminating in a vibrant display of cultural synergy. This remarkable event served not only as a performance but as an important platform for cultural dialogue.

Moreover, representatives from the Khabarovsk region took the opportunity to spotlight their tourism resources, local traditions, and scenic landscapes, further enriching the cultural exchange experience.

Throughout the summer months, from July to September, Jiamusi will host a series of cultural exchange events aimed at promoting tourism and cultural awareness. These activities will include tourism promotion events, showcases of intangible cultural heritage, creative markets, food festivals, artistic performances, and broadcasts of film and television programs. Specific tourism features such as youth study tours, wetland sightseeing, and visits to historical landmarks will also be integral parts of the program.

By orchestrating these programs, Jiamusi aspires to establish itself as a prominent international platform for cultural and tourism exchanges between China and Russia. The initiatives not only aim to enhance local tourism but also strive to create innovative scenarios for cultural consumption, effectively establishing Jiamusi as a key hub for border tourism in Heilongjiang. In doing so, this fair contributes to the province’s overarching goal of becoming a new gateway for opening up to the north and fostering greater international collaboration.

In conclusion, the 16th China-Russia Culture Fair's sub-venue in Jiamusi stands as a testament to the potential of collaborative cultural initiatives to bridge gaps, promote mutual appreciation, and celebrate the diverse heritages of both countries. As these activities unfold, they promise to enrich the cultural tapestry and strengthen the bonds of friendship between China and Russia.
