Lindian Resources Limited, a prominent player on the ASX, has recently revealed a significant strategic partnership with the rare earth specialist Carester SAS. This collaboration is set to considerably advance innovations in oxide separation technology, as well as secure a vital long-term supply agreement that could redefine Lindian's role in the global rare earth market.

The newly signed Technology and Engineering Services Agreement allows Lindian and Carester to co-develop an Oxide Separation Facility in Stepnogorsk, Kazakhstan. This facility boasts a projected annual capacity of 8,000 tonnes per annum (tpa) of Rare Earth Oxides (REO). With the Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS) already in progress, both companies aim to complete this phase by the end of 2026, firmly placing Lindian at the forefront of rare earth production.

Key Highlights of the Partnership


1. Long-Term Offtake Agreement: A critical aspect of this partnership is the long-term offtake agreement spanning up to 20 years. This includes an initial 10-year term, with two additional five-year extension options. Carester is to purchase 70% of Lindian's SEGH (Mixed Heavy Rare Earths compound) production alongside securing the right of first refusal for MHREC (Mixed Heavy Rare Earths Carbonate).
2. Strategic Government Backing: The Caremag Refinery, associated with this project, has gained substantial government financing from French and Japanese authorities, indicating strong international interest and support.
3. Market Potential: The prices for market rarities like Dysprosium and Terbium, expected to reach US$541/kg and US$1,988/kg respectively, present a promising revenue opportunity for Lindian. This partnership is set to leverage the economically viable infrastructure in Kazakhstan, where operating costs are expected to be significantly lower due to existing resources such as power and skilled labor.
4. Vertical Integration: Lindian's commitment to creating a mine-to-oxide integrated value chain positions the company uniquely within the industry. With the hydrometallurgical capabilities of SARECO, Lindian can process Monazite Concentrate and transition seamlessly into producing separated oxides, including high-value Neodymium and Praseodymium.
