World Young Scientist Summit 2026 Unveils Global Insights in Wenzhou
World Young Scientist Summit 2026 Opens in Wenzhou, Zhejiang
On October 24, 2026, the World Young Scientist Summit officially commenced in Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province, China. Organized by the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), the People's Government of Zhejiang Province, and the World Association of Young Scientists, this year's summit attracts around 800 representatives, including scientists, educators, and entrepreneurs from over 60 countries and regions.
The theme of this year's summit is "Gathering Global Talents to Create a Better Future," with a particular focus on "Global Youth Action in the AI Era to Build a Sustainable Future." The summit aims to leverage insights from young people worldwide to deepen international scientific and technological cooperation while addressing the pressing issues faced by youths, science, and the future.
Notable keynote speeches covered critical topics, including educational reform in the age of AI, the intersection of AI and processor chips, and the participation of young female scientists in science. Discussions explored new avenues for scientific research, talent development, and fostering international collaboration in the rapidly evolving landscape of AI.
Particularly significant is the emphasis on catering to the development needs of young scientists, with participants under 45 years making up an impressive 88% of the attendees. The event is designed not only to consolidate a series of international scientific journals but also to promote youth-driven scientific endeavors and international collaboration projects. During the summit, an important report titled "The Distribution and Mobility of Young Scientists in the Field of Embedded Intelligence" was presented.
Two new initiatives were launched: the Associate Journals Program of the World Young Scientist Summit and the Growth, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship Support Program for Young Scientists, aimed at 2026 ambitions. Additionally, the "Pioneering Young Scientists 2035" list and the 2026 edition of the Young Scientists Award for Sustainable Development were announced. This year, the awards honored four scientists from both China and other countries, spotlighting their contributions to the field.
The summit included discussions on the future of manufacturing, quantum information, embodied intelligence, brain-computer interfaces, environmental sciences, deep-sea resources, as well as life sciences and health. Twelve parallel forums were held to cater to various interests and specialties.
Furthermore, the summit featured exhibitions showcasing emerging technologies and conceptual products, as well as local-themed events and educational study tours focused on science, technology, and humanities. This interdisciplinary approach aims to create a scalable platform for young scientists to engage, share, and collaborate on scientific and technological advancements across different regions and sectors.
In conclusion, the World Young Scientist Summit 2026 represents a significant step towards harnessing the potential of young minds globally. The insights and collaborations forged during this event are poised to make a mark in addressing the scientific challenges of our time and shaping a brighter, sustainable future for all.
