Invenergy Expands Renewable Energy Partnership with Meta to Nearly 800 MW

In a significant step towards enhancing clean energy availability, Invenergy, the largest private developer in the U.S. for renewable solutions, has signed four agreements with Meta Platforms, Inc. (NASDAQ: META) to provide an additional 791 megawatts (MW) of wind and solar energy. This latest development nearly doubles the clean energy procurement between the two companies, ensuring Meta's data center operations are supported by reliable, sustainable energy resources.

The agreements come on the heels of a previous announcement made in 2024, where Meta had already secured a total of 1,000 MW through Invenergy. With this new procurement secured, the overall partnership's energy supply now reaches an impressive 1,800 MW. Notably, more than 740 MW of this energy generation will originate from new facilities situated in Ohio, among other strategically located sites across the country.

The energy generated will be fed directly into the local grid, while Meta will leverage the associated renewable energy credits to meet its sustainability benchmarks. Ted Romaine, Invenergy's Executive Vice President of Origination, pointed out the crucial link between clean energy and technological advancement, stating, "Winning the AI race requires reliable, cleaner, affordable energy and energy infrastructure - today and in the future. We're grateful for our continued relationship with Meta and look forward to future partnerships as we work to strengthen American energy independence and economic prosperity."

Urvi Parekh, Meta's Head of Global Energy, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the company's commitment to clean energy and the importance of Invenergy's partnership. "We're laser-focused on advancing our AI ambitions—and to do that, we need clean, reliable energy. We're grateful for Invenergy's longtime partnership that helps us support our energy needs and implement our clean energy goals, and we look forward to continued collaboration,” she stated.

The projects included in the new agreements will come online with expected commercial operations between 2027 and 2028, further contributing to the increasing demand for renewable energy in the U.S. The facilities include:
  • - Yellow Wood Solar Energy Center (OH): 300 MW – Expected Commercial Operations 2027
  • - Pleasant Prairie Solar Energy Center (OH): 140 MW – Expected Commercial Operations 2027
  • - Decoy Solar Energy Center (AR): 155 MW – Expected Commercial Operations 2027
  • - Seaway Wind Energy Center (TX): 196 MW – Expected Commercial Operations 2028

Invenergy has established itself as a leader in the clean energy sector, focusing on accelerating the development of renewable and efficient energy solutions worldwide. With a portfolio encompassing more than 34,000 MW across various power generation modes, including natural gas, solar, and wind, Invenergy continues to drive the transition towards a greener, more sustainable energy future.

Overall, this partnership between Invenergy and Meta heralds a new chapter in the pursuit of clean energy and technological innovation, presenting a promising outlook for both the companies and their stakeholders as they work together to make strides in environmental sustainability and energy independence.
