Duke Energy has made significant progress over the past 24 hours in restoring power to more than 171,000 customers across Greater Cincinnati. This accomplishment comes in light of multiple rounds of severe weather that wreaked havoc involving fallen trees and widespread damage to the electric infrastructure. The company's restoration efforts were met with challenges, including blocked roads and downed power lines; nevertheless, their dedicated workforce has been diligently addressing these issues.

According to Duke Energy's latest figures, approximately 145,000 outages from Ohio, and 25,000 from Kentucky's customers have been restored, with current outages totaling around 102,000. For residents of Greater Cincinnati, this restoration process has been critical, considering Duke Energy serves approximately 920,000 customers spread across both Ohio and Kentucky.

Over 1,000 additional lineworkers, tree trimmers, damage assessors, and other support personnel from various regions have been deployed to assist in the restoration process. Customers in the area can begin viewing estimated restoration times starting at 7 p.m. on Wednesday through Duke Energy's web-based Outage Map. However, given the extent of the damages in certain areas, restoration estimates may not be available immediately for some outages.

Duke Energy is emphasizing the importance of safety as its workers continue their around-the-clock operations. Andy Cassidy, Duke Energy’s storm director, stated, "Our crews have made significant progress under extremely challenging conditions, but we still have substantial work ahead of us." The message highlights the urgency and ongoing efforts in the newly formed restoration plans as crews assess damage to infrastructure, ensuring prioritized support to areas critical for public health and safety.

As part of the ongoing restoration effort, Duke Energy encourages customers to stay informed and adhere to safety protocols. They are advised to stay clear of downed power lines and report any dangers by calling 911. The utility company also requests road access be maintained for first responders and utility trucks as more personnel join the repair mission.
