Celebrate Tanabata at Tokyu Excel Hotel Kichijoji

From July 3rd to 5th, 2026, the Tokyu Excel Hotel Kichijoji will be hosting its captivating event, the "Tanabata Lantern Night." This unique celebration takes place in the splendid lounge and dining area SORAE, where guests can experience a magnificent lantern release ceremony in a stunning atrium with a ceiling height of approximately 15 meters.

Last year marked the inaugural event, which attracted 213 attendees over its four-day run, fully booked every day. The enchanting atmosphere created by the floating lanterns captured the hearts of many visitors, who expressed their enjoyment through comments like, "The lantern release was delightful," and "The ambiance was incredibly soothing."

The SORAE venue boasts an open-concept design that invites guests to unwind in a spacious setting, making it a perfect place for such a magical event. During the Tanabata Lantern Night, participants will have the opportunity to write down their wishes and release sky lanterns into the air, creating a spectacular sight. The indoor setting guarantees a pleasant experience regardless of weather conditions, allowing visitors to enjoy this special occasion in comfort.

In addition to the lantern release, attendees can indulge in a delightful dinner buffet featuring popular dishes from SORAE, including their renowned roast beef, presented with a playful twist—star-shaped toppings that reflect the spirit of the Tanabata festival.

The event is part of a collaborative initiative by the Musashino City, the Musashino Chamber of Commerce, and the Musashino Tourism Association, known as "CO+LAB MUSASHINO." This partnership aims to strengthen regional connections while offering unique seasonal experiences in Kichijoji.

• - Operating Hours: 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM (Last Order at 8:30 PM) - Reservation required; 120-minute limit
• - Lantern Release Ceremony: Every day at 7:00 PM
• - Pricing: 13,000 yen for two guests, which includes dinner buffet and one lantern. For one adult and one child (ages 4 to elementary school), the cost is 11,000 yen. Additional charges for the buffet: 5,000 yen for adults, 3,000 yen for children aged 4 to elementary school. Free for children under 3.
