All Hands and Hearts Welcomes New CEO: A Vision for Disaster Relief and Recovery

All Hands and Hearts Welcomes Nate Mook as New CEO

All Hands and Hearts (AHAH), a dedicated non-profit organization focused on providing disaster relief, has announced the appointment of Nate Mook as its new Chief Executive Officer. This appointment comes as AHAH approaches its pivotal 20th anniversary, marking two decades of impactful service to communities worldwide affected by disasters.

Nate Mook's journey with AHAH began in 2010 when he first met Petra Nemcova, a supermodel and co-founder of the organization, during a relief effort in Haiti following the catastrophic earthquake. Over the years, Mook has worked closely with the organization on various global disaster recovery projects, gaining firsthand insights into AHAH's effective response models.

In a statement, Petra Nemcova expressed her excitement regarding Mook’s leadership: “Nate embodies the spirit of All Hands and Hearts. His passion for humanitarian work and dedication to meaningful change will help amplify our impact as we continue to serve families and communities in crisis.”

Prior to joining AHAH, Mook served as the inaugural CEO of World Central Kitchen (WCK), an organization founded by Chef José Andrés that has provided hundreds of millions of meals to those affected by catastrophes. His leadership helped WCK emerge as one of the largest privately funded humanitarian organizations globally. Mook’s experiences extend to conflict-affected regions as well, including his involvement in Ukraine, where he contributed as a board member of Save Ukraine and served as a special advisor on Ukraine for the Howard G. Buffett Foundation.

His extensive background in disaster relief is complemented by his skills in storytelling and filmmaking. Mook has produced impactful documentaries like Baltimore Rising, which explores social tensions in America, and We Feed People, an Emmy-nominated representation of WCK’s global initiatives. He has also collaborated with prominent organizations like the UN and the Clinton Foundation to elevate humanitarian projects worldwide.

Mook's entrepreneurial spirit and experience in innovation inspired him to take the helm at AHAH, particularly due to the organization’s commitment to long-term recovery efforts post-disaster. Unlike many organizations that provide immediate aid and then disappear, AHAH pledges to remain involved, mobilizing volunteers and resources for comprehensive recovery. Mook is determined to enhance AHAH’s immediate response capabilities while also strengthening its long-term support structures, ensuring resilience is built into the recovery of affected communities.

Mike Pehl, Board Chair of AHAH, also expressed his enthusiasm for Mook’s arrival, stating, “Nate's vast humanitarian experience and shared vision for rebuilding communities make him the perfect candidate to lead AHAH into the future. We are optimistic about this new chapter.”

As AHAH enters its 20th year, the organization remains committed to innovative responses to the increasingly frequent and severe climate disasters. Since its inception, AHAH has engaged over 68,300 volunteers, impacting 1.4 million individuals, reconstructing 205,000 homes, and ensuring over 123,300 students returned to safe educational environments—all while maintaining a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator for transparency and efficiency for ten consecutive years.

Join us in welcoming Nate Mook as the new CEO of All Hands and Hearts as we embark on this exciting journey together to rebuild the lives of those affected by disasters.
