This morning, a Boeing 767 cargo plane from Samaritan's Purse touched down in Kathmandu, loaded with essential items aimed at alleviating the suffering of those affected. The severe glacier landslide that compounded the situation has tragically resulted in hundreds of fatalities and thousands of people unaccounted for.
In the first hours following the disaster, the organization reached out to local partners to assess the situation on the ground and identify urgent needs. Demonstrating remarkable efficiency, Samaritan's Purse dispatched a team of disaster response specialists to Nepal within 48 hours of the flooding and prepared the aircraft with over 40 tons of supplies. The shipment included crucial items such as tarps, blankets, water filters, hygiene kits, and solar lamps.
