The annual user conference for D2L, a leading global learning innovation company, took place in the vibrant city of Savannah, Georgia. Marking its 22nd event, this year's theme, "Ignite the Joy of Learning," underscored the potential of purposeful Artificial Intelligence (AI) and how educational technology can foster transformative human learning experiences.

D2L Fusion 2025 welcomed over 1,000 participants in person from more than 16 different countries, complemented by an additional 1,000 virtual attendees. Such a diverse turnout was made possible through the support of over 40 sponsors, highlighting the significance of collaboration in this space. The event featured over 180 sessions led by experts in K-12 education, higher education, and corporate learning, who exchanged insights on innovative educational practices.

Showcasing AI Innovations



Among the exciting announcements made, D2L introduced several new features within its product line. The launch of D2L Lumi, for example, aimed to enhance the learning experience through several AI-driven tools. Highlights of Lumi include:

In addition to these AI enhancements, D2L unveiled the next generation of authoring and content management called Createspace. This tool is designed to facilitate collaboration among educators while creating and editing educational content. Another significant announcement included the launch of Accessibility+, a new initiative aimed at ensuring equitable access to learning materials for all students. Furthermore, there were enhancements to D2L Brightspace that improved group enrollment capacities and facilitated bulk feedback capabilities for educators.

Keynote Highlights and Expert Insights


The conference featured an inspirational keynote by bestselling author Ryan Leak. He urged participants to contemplate what goals they'd pursue if they had no fear of failure, advocating for a mindset shift towards gratitude and embracing change.
Additionally, the D2L Executive Summit brought together various leaders from corporate learning and higher education to discuss the implications of AI on skill development. Dr. Ayanna Howard, Dean of Engineering at Ohio State University, shared key insights during this segment.
