EnviPro Group Initiates Raw Material Management in Chemical Recycling Project

EnviPro Group Launches Raw Material Management for Recycling

EnviPro Holdings, based in Fujinomiya, Shizuoka Prefecture, along with its subsidiary Bright Innovation located in Chuo-ku, Tokyo, recently announced a significant step forward in their commitment to environmental sustainability. Following their announcement on December 26, 2024, they are now undertaking raw material management (BPO) for a chemical recycling demonstration project spearheaded by Ebara Environment Plant, headquartered in Ota-ku, Tokyo. This project focuses on the procurement management of industrial waste aimed at recycling waste plastics in the city of Sawara, Chiba Prefecture.

The recent activation of the ICFG® internal circulation fluidized bed gasification system marks a notable milestone in this venture. The supply of raw materials for this demonstration initiative has commenced, which will enable a broader range of waste management workflows, especially focused on waste plastics and various other recyclables.

The Demonstration Project Overview

The current project is designed to validate the effectiveness of Ebara’s proprietary ICFG technology in breaking down waste plastics through thermal decomposition. This process generates oil and gas by-products that can be reused as manufacturing materials for new plastics. Operating a demonstration plant capable of processing approximately one ton of waste per day, the team conducts critical tests to ensure technology scalability, system optimization, stable operation, and confirmed commercial viability.

By analyzing the quality of the oil and gas produced from various types of waste – from standard recyclable plastics to more challenging contaminated plastics that include construction waste – the project aims to gather essential data for improving quality and facilitating consistent operation. This data is crucial not only for the ongoing success of the process but will also contribute to the enhancement of operational insights necessary for scaling the project.

Collaborative Efforts for Chemical Recycling Implementation

In conjunction with Ebara Environment Plant, EnviPro Group is poised to leverage the knowledge gained from these demonstration tests to collaborate extensively with public, private, and academic sectors. Together, they aim to construct a robust framework for the societal implementation of chemical recycling practices. This project falls within the auspices of the Environmental Ministry’s initiatives for the fiscal year 2023 aimed at combating carbon emissions and promoting a sustainable circular economy, particularly concerning the recycling of plastic resources.

Through continuous engagement and innovation, EnviPro Group and its partners are influencing change in how waste is handled, setting new standards for recycling practices in Japan, while contributing to a sustainable future.
