Punch Industry's Commitment to Road Safety
In an important development for road safety in the region,
Punch Industry Co., Ltd. has proudly announced that its
Kitakami Plant has been designated as a
"Pedestrian Priority Model Business" by the Kitakami Police Department. This recognition is part of the Iwate Prefectural Police's initiative, which aims to improve awareness among drivers regarding the protection of pedestrians, ultimately contributing to preventing traffic accidents.
Local Impact and Initiatives
The designation ceremony took place at the Kitakami Police Station and marked a significant step towards enhancing traffic safety in the area. As part of the responsibilities that accompany this designation, the Kitakami Plant will engage in various activities, including
safe driving training in cooperation with the police, community traffic safety campaigns, and regular neighborhood patrols to promote a culture of safety on the roads.
Takahiro Ohara, the Kitakami Plant Manager, expressed enthusiasm about the designation. He emphasized the importance of collaboration with law enforcement and increasing awareness among employees about pedestrian safety. The goal is for each employee to become ambassadors of traffic safety, reducing accidents in partnership with the community.
Broader Community Contribution
Punch Group acknowledges its responsibility not only to the business environment but also to the
social and environmental landscapes. To tackle the various challenges society and our planet face, they have established a
Sustainability Committee. Under the company’s purpose of “Creating a rich future for the next generation through reliable manufacturing, sincere technology, and free creativity,” they are committed to respecting human rights, ensuring corporate governance, and addressing several material issues.
Contributions to Local Communities
Punch Group has been actively engaged in various initiatives aimed at supporting the community:
1.
Beautifying the Community with Flowers: For over a decade, the Kitakami Plant has been participating in the
“Flower Full Movement,” where employees plant vibrant flowers like marigolds and salvia along the roadsides, contributing to the beautification of the area.
2.
Food Bank Activities: The company continues to support the local community through food donations to the
Kitakami City Council of Social Welfare. In January 2025, employees contributed around 70 food items, which were presented during a ceremony that gained media coverage, highlighting the company's contribution to supporting needy households.
3.
Site Clean-Up Activities: Located within an industrial complex, the Kitakami Plant takes part in annual clean-up campaigns, picking up litter to aid the beautification efforts of the factory's surroundings.
