Marui Group Partners with Life is Tech for Innovative PBL Program for Teens

Marui Group and Life is Tech's Exciting New Partnership

In an inspiring move, Marui Group, headquartered in Nakano, Tokyo, has joined forces with Life is Tech, a company known for its innovative approach to technology education. This collaboration will be part of the latest Project-Based Learning (PBL) program aimed at middle and high school students, titled "Life is Tech PBL School vol.2". The unique theme of this educational endeavor is "Digital" x "Supporting What You Love".

A Platform for Lifelong Learning

The program is designed to foster self-directed learning abilities that will serve students throughout their lives. By integrating hands-on creativity with advanced educational technologies, students will delve into captivating themes such as money and space across five project sessions. This initiative leverages the growing interest in PBL in education, allowing students to explore their passions while addressing foundational questions crucial for their development.

The primary goal is to equip students with tools to adapt to the dynamic and unpredictable world of the future. Participants will collaborate in teams, tackling challenges creatively and developing not just problem-solving skills, but also critical thinking, creativity, and communication abilities. Furthermore, the program emphasizes the importance of real-world applications by intertwining a variety of subjects, thus ensuring that learning connects meaningfully with existing societal frameworks.

Expert educators involved in the program’s design include Akiko Horii, acknowledged for her work with international schools, Shinya Hiraoka, a graduate of the renowned High Tech High graduate school, and Kenji Wataya, who brings extensive experience in supporting adult education within corporations. Their collective insights have shaped a robust and practical curriculum that responds to current educational needs.

Deep Dive into Individual Passions

Throughout the five sessions, participants will explore their interests deeply, gaining the ability to articulate their passions. By engaging in dialogues within their teams, students will enhance their self-awareness and understanding of others, leading to the critical question: "How can we support someone else's passion?" This theme will inspire team brainstorming sessions, where innovative ideas for support systems will emerge. Students will also learn to express these ideas through slideshows and video production, thus honing their IT and digital communication skills.

Importantly, this PBL program offers a bridge to real-world applications for the participants' innovative solutions. The ideas generated by each team can be submitted to a business contest hosted by Marui Group, allowing students to showcase the skills they’ve developed in a competitive context.

Marui Group's Commitment to Future Generations
