CIC Catalyst APAC Launches Open Call for Innovative Startups in Chiba Prefecture

CIC Catalyst APAC, operated by CIC Japan Innovation Services LLC and headquartered in Minato, Tokyo, has announced the initiation of an open call for candidates to support businesses in Chiba Prefecture under the "2026 Innovative Startup Growth Promotion Project". This initiative aims to provide concentrated support to startups facing challenges, helping them grow into companies that can drive the regional economy.

Chiba Prefecture's program targets startups that possess strong technology but may lack business management know-how. This is particularly for those seeking assistance to overcome significant challenges in growth from seed stage to Series A funding, including businesses that are still in the pre-launch phase.

Selected companies will benefit from tailor-made support, utilizing CIC’s extensive domestic and international networks, as well as resources from local support organizations in Chiba Prefecture. This may include mentoring, matching services, seminars, and more, all customized to meet the needs of the selected startups.

An informative online application briefing session is scheduled for May 11th, from 17:00 to 18:00. During this session, attendees will not only learn about the program details but also have the opportunity to ask questions regarding the application process.

Eligibility Criteria

To apply for the program, companies must meet all the following criteria:
1. Must be a corporation or individual with a headquarters or business office located within Chiba Prefecture.
2. Should possess innovative technology or ideas that are unprecedented in their business field.
3. Must be a company that aims for growth.
4. Must not have any tax delinquencies related to Chiba Prefecture.
5. Must not fall under any categories specified in the Chiba Prefectural Organized Crime Exclusion Ordinance.
6. Should not be in violation of laws or public morals, or pose a potential risk of such violations.

Notably, past recipients of this program will have access to continued support, regardless of whether they choose to apply in the current year.

Selection Criteria and Support Duration

The initiative aims to select approximately 3 to 5 companies for this year's program. Support will be provided from the date of selection (anticipated in July) until March 2027, ensuring a comprehensive period of assistance.

Cost and Support Details

Participation in the program is free of charge, enabling startups to focus solely on leveraging the support offered.
