Procare Solutions Unveils the 2025 Trends Report for Child Care Industry

Procare Solutions Unveils the 2025 Child Care Trends Report

Denver-based Procare Solutions, an industry leader in child care management software for over three decades, has launched its third annual Child Care Business Trends Report for 2025. This comprehensive report sheds light on significant challenges faced by the early childhood education (ECE) sector, while also providing strategies for overcoming them.

For the first time, the report features a dedicated section focusing on teachers, addressing their difficulties and offering actionable insights on how administrators can enhance support. The report is based on extensive data collected through surveys distributed to a broad audience, including more than 100,000 child care leaders, directors, and teachers, ensuring it reflects the genuine opinions from the field.

Key Findings

The report highlights four primary challenges constraining the ECE landscape:
1. Staffing Issues: One of the critical hurdles identified is the recruitment and retention of qualified staff, crucial for stable operations.
2. Enrollment Consistency: Maintaining a steady enrollment rate remains a challenge, especially amidst fluctuating demographics.
3. Staff Burnout: High levels of burnout among staff underline the urgent need for supportive measures.
4. Public Funding Access: Limited access to governmental grants and subsidies remains a pressing concern for many providers.

Interestingly, the report notes that despite a decrease in the overall number of young children in the country, over 180,000 new child care seats have been created since 2019, signifying a response to growing demand for child care services.

Moreover, approximately one-third of respondents indicated a reliance on grants for operational viability, signifying the importance of public funding in the child care sector. While a similar fraction continues crafting their own curriculum, showcasing a gap in access to standardized resources, it is pivotal to note the growing shift towards technological engagement.

Technological Integration

The survey also illuminates a growing trend in technology utilization among providers. Usage of daycare management applications has increased by 7% compared to the previous year, highlighting parents' rising expectations for real-time communication tools to stay connected with their child’s educational environment. More than half of the teachers who participated in the survey mentioned that these software solutions streamline their routine tasks, creating efficiencies in their workflows.

Yet, significant gaps remain—about a quarter of respondents have no plans to implement professional development training despite clear requests from educators for additional training programs. This gap is highlighted by Jon Pollock, Procare Solutions' Chief Product Officer, who emphasized the importance of investing in educational support for staff, particularly those looking to earn credentials such as the Child Development Associate. He stated, “By working together, we can address these challenges while also supporting the workforce that makes ECE possible.”

Looking Ahead

With the challenges and statistical insights presented in the report, Procare Solutions aims to empower child care leaders in making informed decisions as they strive to grow their businesses while enhancing staff support. By leveraging innovative child care management software alongside dedicated professional development programs, many obstacles outlined in the report can be effectively addressed.
