Rediscovering Tottori: A Special Event for Fans
Tottori, a hidden gem in Japan, is often overlooked, but on June 26, 2026, a special event aims to change that perception. Hosted by Shibire Co., Ltd., a company advocating a lifestyle beyond Tokyo, this exciting gathering will take place in Nihonbashi, Tokyo, targeting both residents from Tottori and those who cherish its beauty.
The event, titled
"Kinanse Tottorijin - Share Your Tottori Experience!", promises to be more than just a seminar. It provides a warm, intimate setting for Tottori enthusiasts to rekindle their love for their hometown, as well as an opportunity for those unfamiliar with Tottori to connect with locals and hear firsthand about what makes this prefecture so special.
An Interactive Experience
Rather than a traditional seminar format, this event is designed to foster storytelling among participants. Attendees will create a 'Tottori Favorite Places Map' by marking their beloved locations, stores, and festivals on a large map of Tottori using sticky notes. The facilitator, a newcomer to Tottori, will encourage participants to share their stories, leading to an organic flow of conversation and information about the region. By being a fresh face in Tottori, the facilitator can ask the right questions, helping former residents and fans share their favorite memories and spots without feeling pressured.
As the night progresses, attendees might leave with not only new friendships among fellow Tottori fans in Tokyo but perhaps even a desire to book a flight back to their beloved prefecture.
Meet the Facilitator
Naho Kitagawa, the OFF TOKYO Local Director, will guide the discussion. Originally from Ueda City in Nagano Prefecture, Naho made the life-changing decision to move to Tottori in November 2025, without any prior connections to the area. Driven by a desire to engage in community-focused work, she sought to broaden her horizons by immersing herself in unfamiliar places. During her first year in Tottori, she discovered stunning coastal views, vibrant local events, and the ever-changing sky, all of which deepened her appreciation for the region. Now, as a 'local novice', Naho takes on the role of listener, facilitating conversations about the reasons people love Tottori.
