SPAWORLD Renovation: Transforming the Sauna Experience
Osaka is set to enhance its wellness offerings as SPAWORLD HOTEL & RESORT announces the grand opening of its newly renovated sauna area on November 15, 2025. This significant project, developed in collaboration between
Tokyu Re-Design and
adLb Architectural Design Institute, promises to redefine the sauna and bathing experience for visitors, all while focusing on the existing European and Asian themed zones.
Project Overview
The major renovation was designed to amplify the appeal of SPAWORLD's existing themes, particularly the 4th-floor European Zone and the 6th-floor Asian Zone. These areas will now feature updated facilities catering to relaxation enthusiasts. Among the most notable additions is Japan's largest sauna theatre and a “Tea Ceremony (Sanu-yu)” experience zone, both of which have generated immediate acclaim for their immersive environments.
Renovated Areas
- - 4th Floor (Indoor Bathing Area): Approximately 360㎡ of the total 2300㎡ has been redesigned.
- - 4th Floor (Outdoor Bathing Area): The entire space of about 330㎡ has undergone renovation.
- - 6th Floor (Indoor Bathing Area): About 400㎡ of the total 2200㎡ has been revamped.
- - 6th Floor (Outdoor Bathing Area): 100㎡ of the total 400㎡ area has been refreshed.
Energetic Pre-Opening Event
Before the grand unveiling, a pre-opening event was held on November 8-9, 2025, attracting passionate sauna enthusiasts and notable figures from the sauna community, including manga artist
Katsuki Tanaka and
Kawachan, head of the Kokuyo Sauna Club. The event featured exciting talks as well as an exhilarating Aufguss (infusion) performance led by popular sauna hosts, maximizing the new sauna theatre's potential.
