Unveiling Unique Summer Limited Kiri-e Goshuin at Ryusenji Temple

Ryusenji Temple, known as the birthplace of Kiri-e Goshuin and one of Japan's top three luck-bringing and calamity-dispelling temples, is set to offer two exclusive summer Kiri-e Goshuin starting June 1. Operated by ELternal, a company founded by Waseda University graduates, these beautifully crafted Goshuin, 'Aokou' and 'Natsuzora no Uta', are designed to celebrate Japanese artistry and promote temple visibilities through unique experiences.

Introducing the Summer Kiri-e Goshuin

1. 'Aokou' (蒼航)
This intricately designed piece represents a vibrant summer scene featuring an expansive blue sky and glistening waves. The highlight is a ship bravely navigating the vast ocean, captured through delicate and bold layered cutouts. Every detail, from the fluttering flag atop the mast to the intricate ropes and patterns adorning the hull, contributes to an artwork that encapsulates both grandeur and elegance. Additionally, motifs like seashells reminiscent of summer enhance the fresh and festive vibe. The holographic silver foil applied across the artwork sparkles like summer sunlight dancing on water, subtly transforming with the angle of view to present an ever-evolving portrayal of beauty and energy.

2. 'Natsuzora no Uta' (夏空の詩)
This piece poetically intertwines the contrasting atmospheres of daytime and nighttime in Japan's summer scenery. The right half of the artwork beautifully portrays a bright blue summer sky filled with sunflowers and morning glories, all enriched by the traditional summer wind chimes—masterfully cut and gilded to encapsulate the season's charm. The left half captures a magical summer night with two vibrant butterflies flitting around hydrangeas, all enhanced by the enchanting glow from lanterns. Various lantern sizes and artistic techniques come together to create depth, while the delicate gold foil represents the soft flicker of fireflies amidst the backdrop of a shimmering water surface. This dichotomy between the vibrancy of day and the tranquility of night encapsulates the fleeting beauty of summer.

Distributing the Kiri-e Goshuin

These exclusive Kiri-e Goshuin will be available from June 1, 2026, until August 31, 2026, with a limited quantity to ensure their uniqueness. Once sold out, they will no longer be available, making each purchase special.
