Kizuna Shokudo Hosts Its First Christmas Event in Kita-ku, Tokyo

Kizuna Shokudo's December Activities: A Heartwarming Christmas Event



On December 12, 2023, Kizuna Shokudo, a communal dining initiative established by the Kizuna Yūkai Social Welfare Corporation, celebrated its very first Christmas event in Kita-ku, Tokyo. This monthly event, held every second and fourth Tuesday, aims to create a welcoming space for the community, especially for families and children. Kizuna Shokudo operates its activities from its location in 志茂 (Shimo), providing home-cooked meals prepared with care by nursery chefs, focusing on nutrition and family-style dining.

A Festive Gathering


The Christmas event featured a warm and hearty serving of beef stew—a significant highlight for many attendees. As many as 50 portions were sold out within 30 minutes, showcasing the community's eager support. In addition to the meal, special Christmas gifts were distributed to children, creating an atmosphere filled with happiness and cheer. The children's delighted exclamations of ‘delicious’ echoed throughout the gathering, reinforcing the purpose of Kizuna Shokudo—bringing joy and nourishment to local families.

Kizuna Shokudo is designed to be a community gathering point, with the following details:
  • - Operating Days: Every second and fourth Tuesday (postponed to the following Tuesday if a holiday falls on these dates)
  • - Opening Time: 4:30 PM
  • - Location: 2-52-7 Shimo, Kita-ku, Tokyo (inside PiliAloha)
  • - Pricing: Free for children (up to high school age), ¥300 for adults
  • - Service Style: Dine-in and takeout available (first-come, first-served basis with 50 meals per session)
  • - Culinary Team: Chefs from local nursery schools, emphasizing healthy and accessible meals, like ginger pork and the crowd-favorite beef stew.

It’s essential to note that Kizuna Shokudo does not currently cater to food allergies, and reservations are not necessary.

Looking Ahead: Upcoming Events in January 2026


The next event is scheduled for January 27, 2026, followed by another on February 10, 2026. Meals in the following sessions will include dishes like curry and mochiko chicken, with great care taken to ensure the food is nutritionally balanced and child-friendly. Chefs incorporate techniques such as cutting vegetables into smaller pieces making them easier for children to enjoy.
