World’s First Dedicated Beatbox Karaoke Room Set to Launch

Shinjuku is on the verge of becoming the ultimate destination for beatboxers with the upcoming opening of the world's first dedicated beatbox karaoke room at Big Echo's Shinjuku Nishiguchi location. Set to launch on April 26, 2025, this innovative project is a collaboration between Daiichikosho Co., Ltd. and the beatbox event organization BEATCITY JAPAN (BCJ).

Beatboxing, a unique vocal art form, leverages the human voice, mouth, and throat to create complex sounds reminiscent of drums, bass, scratches, and even nature sounds. This artistic technique has been gaining popularity steadily, with beatboxers showcasing their skills in numerous competitions. In Japan, social media platforms and popular YouTubers have further popularized beatboxing as a fresh mode of musical expression.

The upcoming “BEATCITY Karaoke Room” at Big Echo will be equipped with top-of-the-line audio gear, making it a haven for beatbox enthusiasts. With dancers and performers often practicing in rented studios, this dedicated space will provide easy access for beatboxers to refine their craft in a setting tailored to their needs.

The room will feature the latest flagship karaoke model, “LIVE DAM WAO!”, enhancing the experience by allowing users not only to beatbox but also enjoy contemporary karaoke offerings.

In tandem with BCJ's main event, beatboxers and fans from across Japan will gather in Shinjuku, amplifying plans to establish this vibrant area as a new sacred space for the beatboxing community.

- Interior Design: The room's aesthetic draws inspiration from the concept design of “BEATCITY JAPAN 2025,” featuring a futuristic atmosphere that evokes the thrill and exclusivity of a live competition stage.
- Equipment:

- Speakers: Collaboratively developed by Daiichikosho and JBL to recreate a live concert ambiance.
- Microphones: Professional-grade beatbox microphones—two each of the models “Sennheiser E945,” “AKG D7,” and “ElectroVoice ND76” will be available, supporting battle and tag performance practices.
- Mixer: The integrated “MG10XU” mixer will allow users to customize the auditory environment to their preference.
- Battle Timer Video: A visual display will provide timers for three standard battle durations (60 seconds, 90 seconds, 120 seconds), typical of major beatbox competitions.

This initiative not only promotes the art form of beatboxing but also brings together a community of practitioners and enthusiasts in an unprecedented way. Daiichikosho and BEATCITY JAPAN aim to enhance new opportunities in Shinjuku, turning it into an iconic location for the beatboxing culture.
