The American Liver Foundation (ALF) has announced that Dr. Gerald I. Shulman, a prominent figure at Yale School of Medicine, is set to receive the Distinguished Scientific Achievement Award (DSAA) in 2025. This recognition reflects Dr. Shulman’s profound impact on liver research, particularly his focus on the connections between liver disease and diabetes.

Dr. Shulman serves as the George R. Cowgill Professor of Medicine and Cellular and Molecular Physiology at Yale. He is also the Co-Director of the Yale Diabetes Research Center. His award will be presented at a special reception on November 10, 2025, during the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases' annual meeting.
