Artist Carol Neiger to Showcase Her First Solo Exhibition 'Continuum' Featuring Four Decades of Artwork

Carol Neiger's Artistic Journey: A New Chapter with 'Continuum'

After dedicating nearly 40 years to building a respected marketing and design firm in Chicago, Carol Neiger is now making a significant transition into the world of fine arts. Her first solo exhibition, titled 'Continuum: Selected Works by Carol Neiger', will take place at Grove Gallery in Evanston from August 1 to August 28, 2026. This exhibition encapsulates a remarkable collection of paintings and monotypes that reflect Neiger's artistic evolution alongside her professional commitments.

For Neiger, the realms of painting and design have always coexisted harmoniously. Throughout her career, she has worked closely with various nonprofit organizations, healthcare institutions, and associations, helping them articulate their narratives through design. Yet, her studio space has always been a sanctuary for personal exploration—an environment where her artistic expressions flourished continuously.

The 'Continuum' exhibition brings forth a selection of artworks garnered over decades. This body of work is a result of Neiger's deep engagement with various themes such as memory, landscape, and the transient nature of time. Specifically, her approach frequently starts with dynamic pours and splashes of acrylic, which serve as a foundation for further creative development. Through layers of transparent oil glazes, abstract elements morph into evocative landscapes, creating a bridge between the personal and the universal.

Neiger's statement about her journey reflects her passion: "Painting has always been an essential part of my life. This exhibition represents work created over many years—work that continued to evolve even while I was leading a design firm. As I enter this next chapter, I'm excited to devote more time to the studio and share these paintings with a wider audience."

A graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Neiger has made her mark in numerous juried and invitational exhibitions across the Midwest. She is a recognized fellow of the Jewish Art Salon and a pioneer of the Jewish Artists Collective Chicago. Her work often delves into complex themes involving place, memory, cultural identity, and the nuances of abstraction vs. representation.

The opening reception for 'Continuum' is scheduled for Saturday, August 1, from 2:00 PM to 6:30 PM, coinciding with Evanston Made's First Saturday Gallery Walk. Visitors will have the opportunity to engage with Neiger's art and the story behind her creative endeavors firsthand. The exhibition will be open until August 28, 2026, providing ample time for art enthusiasts and the broader community to experience her artistic vision.
