Ardagh Glass Packaging Receives ENERGY STAR Certification
Ardagh Glass Packaging-North America (AGP-North America), a prominent player in the glass packaging industry, has been recognized with the ENERGY STAR® plant certification for its glass manufacturing facility located in Madera, California. This accolade is particularly significant as it marks the 11th consecutive year that the Madera facility has achieved this certification from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
The ENERGY STAR certification showcases that AGP-North America’s Madera plant is among the top 25% of similar facilities nationwide in terms of energy efficiency. This impressive ranking reaffirms the company’s commitment to maintaining strict performance standards in energy efficiency established by the EPA. As Brian Brandstatter, President and CEO of AGP-North America, stated, “Earning ENERGY STAR certification for the 11th time underscores our long-standing commitment to energy efficiency and sustainable manufacturing.”
The Madera facility holds the remarkable capacity to produce approximately one million glass bottles daily, catering primarily to the U.S. wine market. Since the introduction of the ENERGY STAR certification, numerous Ardagh facilities—eight in total—have collectively received over 45 certifications. Notably, AGP-North America stands out as the only glass container manufacturer in the U.S. to have garnered multiple certifications across various facilities over the years.
Despite the challenging landscape of energy consumption in manufacturing, Ardagh Glass Packaging has continually made strides in enhancing energy performance. Key initiatives undertaken by the Madera facility include upgrading and optimizing its furnaces, utilizing recycled glass, and installing energy-efficient lighting systems, among a host of other measures aimed at reducing energy usage and optimizing operational efficiency.
The ENERGY STAR program, launched by the EPA in 1992, was conceived as a voluntary partnership to encourage businesses to adopt energy-efficient practices that would contribute to reduced emissions. The initiative has led to tens of thousands of buildings and plants in all fifty states receiving ENERGY STAR recognition since its inception.
AGP-North America's dedication to sustainability and energy efficiency is an integral part of its operations. With a revenue of $4.1 billion in 2025 and a workforce of approximately 12,500 employees worldwide operating across 35 facilities in North America, Europe, and Africa, the company is positioned as a leading supplier of sustainable, infinitely recyclable glass packaging.
As the future unfolds, Ardagh Glass Packaging shows no signs of slowing down its commitment to innovation and sustainability.
