Bulat Utemuratov Foundation Unveils New Center for Youth Creativity in Kazakhstan

On June 3, 2026, the Bulat Utemuratov Foundation celebrated International Children's Day by inaugurating the Shabyt Children's and Youth Creativity Center in Zhezkazgan, Kazakhstan. This momentous occasion marked the launch of a facility designed to nurture the talents and creativity of children in the region, serving as the most significant children's establishment in over seven decades.

Constructed at a cost of USD 7.7 million, the center is located in Zhezkazgan's Western District and spans 2,600 square meters. It is equipped with a variety of modern educational resources, including 14 specialized classrooms and studios dedicated to STEM education, arts, and physical well-being. Notably, the facility features a STEM unit focused on robotics, mathematics, and natural sciences, along with spaces for artistic pursuits such as pottery, digital design, photography, and music. Additionally, there are dedicated areas for chess, martial arts, and dance practices, showcasing the center's commitment to a well-rounded developmental approach.

The center is built to accommodate up to 250 children, with an impressive capacity to offer programs to as many as 600 youngsters each day through various shifts. This community project does not charge fees, ensuring accessibility for all families in the area. To further enhance the learning environment, the facility also includes a medical office and coworking spaces for staff, highlighting a holistic approach to child care and education.

Surrounding the building, a 1.6-hectare plot features engaging sports and playgrounds, alongside aesthetically pleasing public areas designed to foster community interaction and play. Importantly, the center has been constructed with inclusivity in mind; all spaces are accessible to children with different needs, and a dedicated sensory room offers support for diverse learning and developmental requirements.

Almaz Sharman, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees at the Bulat Utemuratov Foundation, emphasized the organization's mission at the opening ceremony by stating, “Supporting education and building modern infrastructure for children's growth are central to our operations. This investment in the community represents a commitment to fostering the future of the nation.”

Dastan Ryspekov, the Akim of the Ulytau Region, also shared his thoughts on the center's significance during the event, noting that it is not merely a structure but a space where children can cultivate their talents in technology, creativity, and sports. His remarks underline the center's role in creating a future backdrop where children develop confidence and skills for their paths ahead.

The Shabyt Center adds to an expanding portfolio of social infrastructure projects led by the Bulat Utemuratov Foundation across Kazakhstan, which includes the establishment of schools in Yesik and Kosshy, the construction of a new airport in Kyzylorda, and a community center in Kosshy. These initiatives underscore the foundation's long-term vision of uplifting communities and ensuring that future generations have the necessary tools to thrive.

With the launch of the Shabyt Center, Zhezkazgan is poised to become a pivotal hub for youth education and creativity, paving the way for a more enriched future for its younger population.
