Join the MIDAS CIVIL NX Bridge Analysis Workshop in Tokyo and Osaka

Enhance Your Knowledge of Bridge Analysis with MIDAS CIVIL NX

Midas IT Japan is set to hold specialized workshops focusing on the structural safety and maintenance of cable-stayed bridges. This event will take place in Osaka on September 11th and in Tokyo on September 18th, 2025. As the number of aging cable-stayed bridges in Japan increases, concerns regarding cable corrosion and fracture are becoming more pressing. It is essential to understand the structural properties accurately to ensure overall safety and to enhance the evaluation of risks and maintenance management.

To guide participants, the workshop will feature Professor Yukari Aoki from Akita University, who will present on risk assessment research based on experimental and numerical analyses. She will discuss various initiatives aimed at extending the lifespan of cable-stayed bridges.

In addition, participants will get hands-on experience with the 3D structural analysis and seismic design software, MIDAS CIVIL NX. Attendees will learn practical analysis techniques, including considerations for cable tension during the construction phase and ensuring structural stability.

This workshop offers a valuable opportunity to reaffirm the safety of cable-stayed bridges from both research and practical perspectives, while also gaining insights that can be applied to future maintenance efforts.

Why Choose MIDAS CIVIL NX for Structural Analysis?

MIDAS CIVIL NX is a dedicated software solution for bridge structural analysis, widely used in over 100 countries. This software is particularly favored for large-scale cable-stayed bridge projects across the globe due to several key features:
  • - Focus on Construction Stage Analysis: Accurate recreation of cable installation sequences and tension forces.
  • - Standard Optimization Functions: Automatic tension adjustments according to specified conditions.
  • - Geometric Nonlinearity and Cable Nonlinearity Considerations: Realistic representation of interactions between towers, girders, and cables.
  • - Resistance to Complex Loads: Ability to account for combined loads from wind, earthquakes, and temperature changes.
  • - Compliance with Design Standards: Adheres to various international design codes including AASHTO, Eurocode, and Japanese Road Bridge Standards.

These features ensure precise and efficient design and analysis of cable-stayed bridges, earning high praise from engineers worldwide.

Notable Case Studies Utilizing MIDAS CIVIL NX

1. Russky Island Bridge (Russia): One of the largest cable-stayed bridges in the world with a main span of 1,104 meters. Recognized for its revolutionary construction against harsh natural conditions, MIDAS CIVIL NX was crucial for cable optimization and construction stage analysis.

2. Octavio Frias de Oliveira Bridge (Brazil): Known for its unique X-shaped design, this bridge represents a blend of engineering and architectural innovation. Features like nonlinear analysis played a key role in its design.

3. Sutong Yangtze River Bridge (China): Spanning approximately 8 kilometers, it was the first cable-stayed bridge to exceed 1,000 meters in main span. Detailed construction stage management facilitated by MIDAS CIVIL NX ensured comprehensive project oversight.

Final Remarks

Participants in the workshops can look forward to enhancing their understanding of bridge safety assessments, as well as gaining valuable insights into the tools and techniques that are shaping the future of cable-stayed bridge construction and maintenance.
