T3 Photo Festival Tokyo 2026: A Celebration of Photography and Imagination
From October 3rd to October 20th, 2026, the unique art space
Gallery & Bakery Tokyo 8 min will host a remarkable exhibition titled
'Photography and Imagination: Nozomi Suzuki & Sayaka Uehara with the Higashikawa Award Collection'. This event is part of the
T3 PHOTO FESTIVAL TOKYO 2026, showcasing the works of two acclaimed emerging artists who were awarded the prestigious Higashikawa New Artist Award.
About the Artists
The exhibition features the work of
Nozomi Suzuki and
Sayaka Uehara, both highly regarded for their innovative contributions to contemporary photography. Suzuki's artistry emphasizes the delicate interplay of light and memory, reflected through her photographic explorations, while Uehara’s works delve into the layers of time and memory present in Okinawa's landscapes. Together, they present a compelling narrative centered around the theme of imagination.
The Exhibition
Curated by
Sayoko Osawa, the exhibition aims to highlight the creative visions of the two artists. Visitors can expect a collection of award-winning pieces as well as recent works that continue to examine and expand upon their unique photographic practices.
Suzuki captures ephemeral traces of light through small openings, creating another world within her prints, while
Uehara invites viewers to reflect on the hidden narratives embedded in everyday landscapes of Okinawa.
The exhibition underscores the importance of imagination as a way to interpret and appreciate the layers of history and meanings behind each image. As Osawa aptly puts it, imagination is the ability to read blank spaces—suggesting that both artists do not merely chase subjects, but rather seek to reveal the rich histories that lie beneath the surface of their photography.
